Chevalier Ballet Company and SLK Ballet School’s Saint-Raphaël Summer Intensive is an experience unlike any other, designed to give students ages 15+ unparalleled dance education with the backdrop of the wonderful climate, cultural immersion, and chic offerings of the French Riviera. The two-week Intensive will take place in the beautiful Côte d’Azur town of Saint-Raphaël (located midway between Cannes and Saint-Tropez), from June 23 to July 4, 2025. Students will have daily classes and rehearsals led by the prestigious SLK Ballet faculty, as well as guest master teachers from Europe and beyond. The Intensive will culminate in a public performance featuring Chevalier Ballet's repertoire.

During the first week of the intensive, students will take daily ballet technique and pointe classes, along with repertoire coaching, pilates, floor barre and yoga. This curriculum is designed to prepare students’ technique for the second week, which will have a greater focus on rehearsal for the final performance. Most days will feature a schedule of 5-7 hours of dance classes and rehearsals each day, with an hour break for lunch. The Intensive will use two studio spaces: Create Danse and Happy Body Center. In addition, during the first week, students will have afternoon French lessons, to build their language skills and make full use of their surroundings. Classes will be beginner level. No prior knowledge of French is needed to participate in the Intensive. After their classes, students will be free to enjoy their time in Saint-Raphaël.

The final performance will take place on Friday, July 4th, at the Centre Culturel Municipal Georges Ginesta in Saint-Raphaël. The performance will feature two acts: Act I will include a technical class-style demonstration and presentations of classical repertoire variations, and Act Il will be a performance of Sara Knight's New York Stories, a newly-created ballet inspired by the John Baer Archive of photos documenting post-War life in New York City. As the theater seats 140 audience members, the performance will be open to the public as well as to the friends and family of Intensive participants.

SLK Ballet and Chevalier Ballet have reserved rooms for students at Hôtel Le 21 from June 22 through July 5. Saint-Raphaël is easily accessible by train from the Nice Côte d'Azur Airport, and Intensive faculty and chaperones will be available to drive students from the train station to the hotel. Students will stay in shared double rooms with other SLK Ballet or Chevalier Ballet dancers. All rooms include breakfast at the hotel. Hôtel Le 21 is within walking distance of Happy Body, and students will be driven to Create Danse by chaperones. Students are also encouraged to explore the vibrant town around them, and the beaches - including the Plage du Veillat, Plage de Beau Rivage, and Plage de Frejus - in the immediate vicinity.

Tuition for the intensive is $2000 (including hotel and performance), but those who audition before January 31, 2025, will receive a special early bird rate of $1890.
